Love, Body, Mind and Soul

The motto of this site.

The wall is symbolic for all aspects of life, from birth until death and beyond.

Combining the forces of Love, the Body, Mind and Soul through offering events, embodied experiences and counselling, that's what the About-page says. This is not an empty phrase, coming out of nowhere. The purpose of this blog-post is to give some background on the ideas that have led to creating the site. It came from realising that:

Love is a life-force that gives us direction, and happiness, keeps us going and caring. Loving ourselves and others. Love is mentioned here first, because it applies to all that follows: We love our being, our Body, our Mind, and our Soul, which together defines who we are and what we do. Without love there can be no compassion, no mindfulness, no peace, or flourishing relationships.

The Body is our vessel on the ocean of life. This magnificent organism that allows us to live and that has ultimately evolved, through countless generations, from the murk into us. When we love this body, take care of it, enjoy the things it allows us to do and feel, we celebrate our unique position in the animal kingdom, part of the circle of life.

We are blessed with a thinking Mind, where much of our consciousness resides, where we form our thoughts and dreams. The mind allows us to reason and learn, as we progress from early childhood until we reach the end of our life. If the brain and central nervous system is where the 'technical' life-processes take place, like the senses (see footnote) - sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch - and driving the many automatic functions in the body, in contrast the mind can be seen as the creative part of ourselves. But how much control do we have over our mind? My mind makes me write these musings, but many of us have felt that the mind takes its clues from something else. Can that be our soul?

The Soul is not our thoughts, not our actions, but the essence of who we are and what we become. The soul gives us the capacity to love, activates our emotions and our attitude towards fellow beings. Our soul expresses itself in the deeply meaningful aspects of life: our sexuality, happiness and love, spirituality, appreciation of art and music. Some people think that the soul lives on after we die. My stance on this is that my soul will seize to exist, but I hope that it lives on in the minds of others.

For each of these aspects of life it was my wish to offer some of what I felt within my power, to others who might have been searching or who are open to receiving. I became motivated to create this website and show what, at this moment, my world revolves around. That makes it a bit of a loose collection of things that keep me occupied: Tantra, conscious living and relating, embodied experiences, writing and poetry, photography, and, through blogs, matters of the mind like astronomy and science in general. It is my hope that in all of this the reader will recognise my Love for Body, Mind and Soul -whether it concerns mine or that of others.

(footnote) These are the five basic senses. Some add more to that collection, like balance and other senses: see this link.
